Just ten years after the creation of the Métiers d’Excellence Institute – a pioneering program to preserve and pass on exceptional know-how – LVMH has successfully established the world’s leading private-sector training ecosystem for uniquely skilled professions.
The Group celebrated this remarkable success story during the 2024 edition of “SHOW ME”, an event that welcomed over 800 people in Paris, 600 guests Milan and 220 guests in Shanghai. The event celebrated the talented people who practice these métiers and ensure that their unique skills are passed on to new generations.
From its inception in 2014, the Métiers d’Excellence initiative has shift the position lines of apprenticeship in France and has evolved into a comprehensive ecosystem spanning eight countries, most recently expanding into China, and has trained thousands of individuals in over 280 specialized professions.
"Since 2014, we have built with our Maisons, our schools, and our partners a true virtuous circle that meets our ambition to shape the talents and skills of tomorrow. Today, more than 30,000 people benefit each year from the actions of the LVMH group in the field and contribute to perpetuating our Métiers d’Excellence," said Alexandre Boquel, Director of Métiers d’Excellence LVMH.
Anniversary celebrations have taken place in Paris, Milan and Shanghai, each highlighting unique aspects of the program:
- Paris (October 10, 2024): "SHOW ME-France" at the Grand Rex theater welcomed over 800 attendees, including LVMH Chairman Bernard Arnault, French Minister of Labor Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet, and Maria Grazia Chiuri, Creative Director for Dior Couture Women’s Collections. The event featured immersive videos showcasing artisan talent, unveiled special creations by various Maisons (including a learner t-shirt designed by Patou's artistic director Guillaume Henry, a trunk inaugurating the second series of craftmanship trunks by Hennessy and several fragrances representing featured artisans by Francis Kurkdjian), and detailed the future Maison des Métiers d'Excellence in Paris, designed in part by Ramy Fischler and featuring a tapestry by Maria Grazia Chiuri.
- Milan (October 24, 2024): "SHOW ME-Italy" at the Teatro degli Arcimboldi gathered over 600 guests, including LVMH executives such as Toni Belloni, Advisor to LVMH CEO and President of LVMH Italy, and Fendi CEO Pierre Emmanuel Angeloglou and regional officials with Barbara Mazzali, Councilor responsible for tourism, territorial marketing, and fashion of the Lombardy Region, to celebrate the program's success in Italy, having trained over 1,000 apprentices since 2017. The event highlighted the career journey of successful program alumni and announced new training programs in textiles, ready-to-wear, and retail, along with the upcoming You & ME vocational fair in Rome and Florence. Special creations were unveiled, including a learner t-shirt designed by Pucci’s Camille Miceli, a scarf created by Kenzo for talents who completed courses at the Métiers d’Excellence Academy, and a panettone made by COVA.
- Shanghai (November 6, 2024): "SHOW ME-China" at the Cathay Cinema marked the official launch of Métiers d’Excellence in China, with over 200 attendees including LVMH executives Andrew Wu, LVMH Group President of Greater China, Marc-Antoine Jamet, LVMH General Secretary, Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bvlgari, Karin Raguin, SVP Human Resources LVMH China, the French ambassador to China Mr. Bertrand Lortholary, and LVMH’s Chinese “virtuosos." The event emphasized the program's four key priorities in China: promoting savoir-faire professions, immersive heritage craftsmanship experiences (showcased through masterclasses by Maisons like Loewe, Louis Vuitton, and Fendi), tailored training programs (such as Louis Vuitton's Repair Center Apprentice Program and Bvlgari's Jewelry Technician Apprentice Program) and recognizing exceptional talent through the Virtuoso program with the presentation of brooches designed by Francesca Amfitheatrof, Louis Vuitton Artistic Director of Watches and Jewelry.
LVMH also announced a partnership with Campus Mode, Métiers d’Art et Design at the Gobelins tapestry manufacture as part of the France 2030 program. The partnership will support a project called Re-SOURCE to create a digital conservatory of gestures and know-how, fusing technology, robotics and artificial intelligence. These collaborations foster innovation and ensure the preservation of traditional techniques for generations to come. The Maison des Métiers d'Excellence will open in 2026, further strengthening the LVMH Group’s engagement with vocational training and promotion of skilled métiers: a place in Paris open to all, where you can be a craftsman for an hour, a day or a lifetime.
