ROLE OVERVIEW
The Women's Merchandising Manager is responsible for developing and executing merchandising strategies that align with the company's brand and market demands. This position involves overseeing product selection, inventory management, sales analysis, and collaboration with various departments to drive sales and profitability. The Senior Merchandising Manager also leads and mentors junior merchandisers and other team members to ensure the effective implementation of merchandising plans. The ideal candidate should be agile and possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Selection and Sourcing:
- Identify and select products that align with the company's brand and market demands.
- Review and suggest pricing strategies.
- Manage order entry and sizing.
- Update and review open-to-buy (OTB) plans.
- Collaborate with the local Supply Chain Manager to review and manage the permanent collection, ensuring appropriate product placement by store and size offering.
- Place and confirm reorders as needed.
- Handle special orders/requests as required.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor stock levels to ensure optimal inventory that meets customer demand without overstocking.
- Analyze sales data to forecast future inventory needs and adjust orders accordingly.
- Maximize seasonal stock turnover through market-specific buying and managing store-to-store consolidations.
- Develop commercial ideas to maximize stock through events, caravans, and special events.
- Manage the markdown process, including analyzing markdown inventory/assortment and logistical flow from boutique to warehouse to outlet.
Analysis & Market Research:
- Conduct sales performance analysis, seasonal sales analysis, stock turnover analysis, pricing analysis, and client analysis.
- Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences.
- Stay informed of fashion trends and apply this knowledge to assortment and promotional plans.
- Submit product requests to HQ when needed.
Visual Merchandising:
- Collaborate with visual merchandisers to create appealing store layouts and displays.
- Ensure that products are presented in a way that attracts customers and encourages purchases.
E-commerce:
- Work closely with the e-commerce team to monitor product performance online.
- Suggest e-merchandising strategies to align with overall retail merchandising plans.
- Provide product information and updates for online platforms.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor junior merchandisers and other staff members.
- Collaborate with sales teams through regular store visits and assistance during sales events/special events; gather feedback on product performance.
- Work with the communication/marketing team to suggest product pushes.
- Collaborate with the CRM team to support client events, conduct client analysis, and suggest push campaigns.
- Support the training team as needed and collaborate on creating new tools.

QUALIFICATIONS
- The ideal candidate will possess four to six years of buying experience, preferably in the luxury sector with multi-category buying experience
- Strong understanding of merchandising financials, retail math and the ability to manage profitability
- Proven experience building profitable business
- Knowledge of Open-to-Buy process
- In depth experience in Women’s Leathergoods and RTW
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
- Strong product sensibility and understanding of trends/brands in the North American market
- Ability to analyze reports and draw conclusions/recommendations
- Ability to remain flexible and willing to change strategies, as business needs dictate
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising or equivalent experience
- Ability to work autonomous
- Expert knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Prefer knowledge of SAP, QLIK Sense, COGNOS, and CEGID
The compensation for this position ranges from $105,000- $125,000. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidate’s relevant skills and experience. In addition, there is a comprehensive benefits package including: medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, various paid time off programs, employee discount/perks, and a retirement plan with employer contribution.
