Named Artistic Director in September 2024, Sarah Burton chose Givenchy’s historic headquarters on Avenue George V to unveil her vision for the Maison.

The atelier and its intimacy set the tone for this ready-to-wear collection, with a color palette featuring black, white and vibrant yellow. The discovery of Hubert de Givenchy patterns dating from 1952 provided inspiration for Sarah Burton’s creations right from the very first silhouette, starting from the body up. The rhythm of her collection evolves around tailoring, merging masculine techniques with feminine shape. This exploration of the multiple facets of a modern woman proved rich in surprises. A surrealist dress made entirely of powder compacts appeared amidst silhouettes in black leather.  Volumes balance strong shoulders and hourglass waists, and bolts of fabric morph into backless dresses or wrap around the body to form skirts.

Subtle echoes of Hubert de Givenchy punctuate the collection. Chantilly lace dresses are scissored to micro length, elongating the body. Fifties foundational undergarments become visible in provocative conical shapes. Balloon sleeves expand, expressing a powerful femininity. Knotted scarves are translated into exploded leather iterations around the neck, or as graphic signatures at the waist. Couture spirit and the creative energy of the future infuse the silhouettes.  Accessories feature shoes designed as objects of desire, from tulle to latex, while the new Pinch and Facet bags are worn day or night. Pearls and crystals embellish earrings, and a jewel-covered bodice celebrates the skin as the most precious of materials.
