For the men’s Winter 2025-2026 collection, Dior men’s artistic director Kim Jones drew inspiration from Ligne H, created by Christian Dior for his Fall-Winter 1954-1955 couture collection
The models walked down a majestic staircase to present the silhouettes in an striking cinematographic chiaroscuro atmosphere.
Kim Jones noted the sense of fashion history, particularly menswear, that informs the collection, “a shift from something quite ornate and extravagant in the eighteenth century to something more linear and utilitarian in the nineteenth, with the beginnings of modern menswear.” From the Dior archives to the present, pieces evoke a slippage of time periods as garments morph from feminine to masculine and back, including a coat that changes into a skirt. A play of volumes is omnipresent, accompanied by captivating draping. Modern-day extravagant dressers sport flowing coats with belted waists, their eyes concealed by delicate masks. At the same time lavish and pared back, the silhouettes concentrate the noblest fabrics, with a predominance of silks and satins.
Leather goods provide a counterpoint to this structured elegance. A Dior Roller in shearling contrasts with Dior Normandie totes in exceptional leathers. Classic dress shoes and Dior Palmarès leather boots are elevated by a knotted satin toe cap, a couture motif found throughout the collection. Sneakers fuse exuberance and artisanal excellence, with hand embroidery that revisits the pattern of a 1961 shoe.
Pinstripes and herringbone patterns bring a touch of brilliance, while glass beading as delicate as raindrops highlights shoulder lines. Closing the show, a soft pink satin couture robe is adorned with floral embroidery that references the Pondichéry look of Monsieur Dior’s Spring-Summer 1948 haute-couture collection. The motifs are borrowed for jewelry, notably a sterling silver chatelaine worn on the best. The 18th-century inspired ornamental chain features a full array of couturier’s tools, including a thimble and scissors.
