IdentityL'Epée 1839
Since its creation in 1839, L’Epée 1839 has preserved and nurtured unique savoir-faire in the creation of high-end mechanical clocks, which are designed and produced entirely in-house. Founded by Auguste L’Epée, the manufacture is renowned for its hand-crafted components. From 1850 it became a leader in making escapements and regulators for alarm clocks, table clocks and music boxes. Its renown led to patents for innovative escapements and it became a key supplier for prestigious watchmakers, winning a host of gold medals at international competitions. By the 20th century L’Epée 1839 had gained fame for its officer’s carriage clocks and travel clocks, which were often gifted to politicians and members of the royal court, making the name synonymous with power and influence. Technical prowess, harmonious design, extended power reserves, exquisite details and a humorous touch are all integral to our brand identity.
In our creative process we never start with the movement. Rather, everything begins with a story and with emotions we strive to express. Then the mechanism and the case are designed to breathe life into this story.
