Dior is honoring its enduring ties with China through the theme of art with an exhibition entitled L’Or de Dior, from September 2-29. The event celebrates the Maison's ongoing fascination with gold, a timeless and universal symbol that embodies both the Dior heritage and its extraordinary savoir-faire.
L’Or de Dior is a dreamscape retrospective that unfolds through a dazzling scenography. The visual journey debuts with a cabinet of curiosities that celebrates gold in all its forms from past to present, from iconic Dior silhouettes to the sumptuous metamorphosis of J'adore.
Each room explores cherished Dior themes as visitors discover over 70 years of designs by the Maison, from recent collections by Maria Grazia Chiuri to designs by Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré or John Galliano, all elevated by the glitter of gold.
A hypnotic expression of the power of gold, the story of J’adore is recounted through a captivating dialogue between fashion and perfume. The triumphant aura of the fragrance's muses enthralls and enchants in a suite of extraordinary gilded haute couture gowns dating back to 1999. An eternal icon, J'adore is continually reinvented, most recently by Francis Kurkdjian, Perfume Creation Director of Parfums Christian Dior. The magnetic fragrance is featured in an exceptional campaign fronted by Rihanna, embarking on a new chapter in this perpetually evolving odyssey.
Gold also inspires virtuoso excellence in the many striking reinterpretations of the Lady Dior bag imagined by international artists as part of the Lady Dior As Seen By and Dior Lady Art projects. The exhibition offers an exclusive first look at some creations from the ninth edition of this ongoing endeavor.
As part of celebrations around the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and China, L'Or de Dior echoes the deep ties between Dior and China. The exhibition brings together works by prominent Chinese and international artists, forging stronger cultural and creative exchanges. Among the works on exhibit, visitors can admire the scanographic portraits by Katerina Jebb, a multi-sensory digital fresco by Refik Anadol, as well as sculptures and installations by Jean-Michel Othoniel, Élise Morin and Marina Abramović.
